UPDATE 1/20/08 on the 19 Seeley Collies Rescued in Upstate NY
Statement by AWCA President Jean Levitt
Folks, the reports on the individual Collies and volunteer experiences will be deferred in order for AWCA to highlight our goals for the Seeley Collies held at the SPCA of Upstate NY in Queensbury.
Three months of crate and cage confinement at the SPCA is too long for these Collies who were rescued from long-term crate confinement at the Seeley’s. These Collies need to be released into adoptive or foster homes or allowed to go to the rehabilitation facilities which have offered to take them at no charge. There, they will be able to move about freely and get the exercise they so urgently need to prevent further atrophy of mind and muscle.
All adopters of the Seeley Collies can count on the support of AWCA, including, to the best of our ability, assistance with medical bills beyond their ability to pay; mentoring; training assistance; end of life peer grief support; and memorials in our newsletter, Collie Connection, without charge. Membership in AWCA is NOT required. We simply help Collies in need.
We are grateful to the NY State Police and executive director of the SPCA of Upstate NY in Queensbury, Cathy Cloutier, for rescuing these Collies from the deplorable conditions in the Seeley home.
Calmly,
Jean Levitt
