UPDATE 3/18/03 on the Montana Collies

Statement by AWCA President Jean Levitt

AWCA receives many unsolicited inquiries regarding adopting the Montana collies. Please understand these dogs are not up for adoption and may never be. The courts will make the decision on this issue, and it’s very likely no final decision will be reached for many more months.

Therefore, AWCA is doing nothing to facilitate adoption of the Montana collies. We do, however, want to draw attention to the fact there are many collies-in-need throughout America who ARE presently available for adoption or fostering. AWCA suggests interested adopters contact their local rescue organizations and animal shelters.

Our hope is this phenomenal outpouring of love and desire to adopt a collie will result in ALL collies-in-need finally having a loving home.
