UPDATE 5/4/03 on the Montana Collies
Statement by AWCA President Jean Levitt
*Permission to crosspost*
Today all animals moved from Camp Collie I in Shelby to Camp Collie II in Great Falls. Despite snow last night and rain and sleet all day, it took less than 3 hours for volunteers to load every animal into vehicles ranging from Suburbans to enormous horse trailers. In a perfectly orchestrated convoy, extending nearly 2 miles long, surrounded by police vehicles and a small plane circling overhead, the Collies and other animals traveled route I-15 from Shelby to Great Falls in just under 2 hours.
Police blocked all side roads door-to-door to enable the convoy to move without interference. Once in Great Falls, it took less than 2 hours to unload and re-home every dog in one massive room furnished with 5 x 10 foot new pens. The cats moved into their own private carpeted room.
