UPDATE 6/11/03 on the Montana Collies
Statement by AWCA President Jean Levitt
*Permission to crosspost*
Adoption
At this time AWCA is working with the Humane Society and the Toole County Sheriff’s Office to plan adoption procedures for the Montana collies. The time frame for placement of altered collies is July 1-July 15. Presently AWCA invites experienced dog persons who are interested in adopting a Montana collie and who can travel to Great Falls, MT, during the first two weeks in July for orientation and to escort your collie to your home to contact AWCA Secretary, Judy Cummings, with your name, mailing address, and phone number. An application form will be provided when the form becomes available.
You will be required to have a “home check” by a representative of this rescue; your social security number will be required for a criminal background check performed by the Toole County Sheriff’s Office; a letter of recommendation from your veterinarian will be required; you will be required to sign a statement that you will never relinquish the collie you adopt to the Harmans.
Folks, these collies have been through a very difficult rescue. Most are unsocialized, all have compromised health, many have special needs, and none are toilet trained.
We are looking for permanent homes with loving, devoted, experienced dog people who are willing to commit to a collie-in-need for the remainder of its life. If this describes you, and if you can come to Montana between July 1 and July 15, let us hear from you immediately.
Calmly,
Jean Levitt, President AWCA
Lisa King, Director of AWCA Rescue
